Younes Megri - Leïli Twil (1973)

True story: When I was in Morocco this past month, I dragged my significant other with me to the souk in the medina and then we went to one of the gardens afterwards. He has a ghiwane/gnawa band and has well-established contacts with musicians in Morocco, then all of a sudden this old guy sitting under a tree reading a book yells his name while we were walking. I’m doing a double-take thinking no way, it can’t be Younes Megri! IT WAS. Megri was with his daughter and he greeted me before talking to him about some concert he’s planning…while I was just standing there like okay, this is no big deal.

Then Younes Megri asked me how my trip was going after he introduced me to him and he wished me a pleasant rest of my visit. 

I had a little freak out sesh.
